stargirl party

Here we are, sharing our Kamishibai, writing positive cards to each other, and partying with the free spirit of Stargirl! Too bad that we were too busy dancing the bunny hop to have taken photos of it!!! But it was a great way to celebrate our work in both English and Spanish. Please comment!

Here we are delivering fanmail to Jerry Spinelli after school. Pure smiles!!!

Investigating the Bay

Today we went on a research boat with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and found out how we could Save the Bay!

We got to read maps of the watershed, learn about sediment transport, agricultural (farming) nutrient run off, toxins (catfish cancer!!!), and run off impact the health of the bay.

This can be tested by checking the turbidity of the water (how much light can go through and help the bay grasses), as well as the oxygen level of the water (so fish can breathe!)

We found seven different species and even handled the fish! Despite the cold and the flurries, it was an excellent experience, thanks to Claire and Eric, our Chesapeake experts!

Obama Letter Pictures

We wrote letters to President Elect Obama to share our insights in how we can change the nation. Here are some pics we took that day.
